<p>Hello,</p>
<p>Well, I had another check up today (Aug. 16th) and the doctor was speechless. He said that he has never seen anyone have the movement that I have at this early stage. He gave me some more therapy exercises but told me NOT to do them for another two weeks cause I am way ahead of where I should actually be. Most people that has had this surgery can barley lift their arm and I can hold it straight up. He gave me the okay to bowl so that is a good thing, but not to even touch the ball with my left hand. I asked about playing the kit and that's when he shook his head and walked out, haha. </p>
<p>Anyway, just keeping everyone posted.

<p><img src="http://www.claymeyers.com/newsletter/images/rockymorales.jpg" width="258" height="350" align="right">I'm sorry for this but I'm using this as a way to let everyone know that we lost another legend today. Rocky Morales passed away around 4:15pm at University Hospital from lung cancer. Rocky was the heart and soul of the "West Side Horns" sound that has flavored so many of Doug and Augie's albums as well as others like Kim Wilson, Angela Strehli, Lou Ann Barton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert Collins and many others. </p>
<p>Over the years Rocky has taught me more about drumming than anyone and also has given me the knowledge of knowing that "the music suffers when you play for yourself and not for the song."</p>
<p>His influences will live with me forever. <br>
I'll miss you Rock!!!</p>

<p>Hello,</p>
<p>Well, it's been a week after the surgery and I'm sore as *bleep* after having two bone spurs removed and a hole in the cuff repaired. I have had to wear a sling with a built-in pillow that keeps my arm about 8 inches away from my body for 24 hrs a day. Sleep hasn't been the best, even with being on the Rush Limbaugh RX diet...Had to go buy a recliner so that I could sleep better. And sleeping in that for a whole week hasn't made my back the happiest. They had me doing therapy exercises the day I got home from surgery and then 4 times a day since...ouch!! </p>
<p>I went for a follow-up today (Monday, July 31). I'm coming along fine. Have to start 3 new exercises...ouch! I can keep the sling off except for when I go out and when I sleep....back to the damn recliner.....It seems that I'll have about 8 more weeks of this therapy stuff. </p>
<p>Sandy has finally gotten some relaxation by going back to work today. She now calls me "Archie Bunker".....EDITH...COME HERE!!!!! <br>I can see the recliner having to leave very soon, haha. </p>
<p>I want to thank Barbara & Steve for recliner shopping for me and picking the right one out and to Wade for carrying it up the stairs, without them Archie wouldn't be here! </p>
<p>Here's <a href="http://www.claymeyers.com/home/bonespur-cuff.php">some pictures</a> of the surgery showing the bone spur (before & after) and the cuff repair...pretty cool. </p>

<p>Clay is out of surgery and had 2 bone spurs removed and a tear in the cuff repaired. He is home and resting uncomfortably. He is now on for 8 weeks of therapy. The first thing he asked for was enchiladas. </p>
<p>Thanks for all your support and prayers...I really believe they have helped him through this. </p>

<p>Hello,</p>
<p>Well, I've reached the point of no return as I am now scheduled for surgery on July 21st. The last couple of months have been really hectic with my son graduating from Kindergarten as the "Comal County ISD Superintendents Child of the Month" and starting his summer activities. Yes, I am a proud owner of a 1st grader now. I also wanted to wait until after our 20th anniversary which is June 28th and then had to work around my wife's work schedule so that she can take off and pamper me for a week. Twenty years, wow...I have been so blessed with a wonderful wife, Sandi, and my pride & joy Dylan, my son.</p>
<p>I would once again like to thank everyone for all the support. Without ya'll, this surgery wouldn't be possible. Together we raised enough to put a very major bite in the surgery cost. I am still so blown away and so very honored. There are now some photos up from the Casbeer's show. <p>Thanks to everyone for making this a total success. I am still totally blown away. The turn out was great and all the bands...well, they just rocked. Jeff Bolton was absolutely magic as always....thanks bud! There were a few people there that I haven't seen in years and it was great to hook up again....you know who you are. There was a very special surprise guest, and boy was I surprised, <a href="http://www.frankcarillo.com">Frank Carillo</a> flew in from NY for the event. He's one hell of a guitarist and writer with credits from Peter Frampton, Golden Earring and John Hammond just to name a few. He's currently touring with his own band (Frank Carillo and the Bandoleros) in support of his new CD which is great. Please check his site out and catch him if he's anywhere near you. Thank you Frank...it meant a lot!!! </p>

<p>From the desk of Tracy Ready:</p>
<p>Sitting here, I am thinking of the all the great music Clay Meyers has put his infectious, straight in the pocket groove to. I can’t help but tap my foot. You see, Clay has been my friend, my brother and rhythmic rock for more than 25 years. We were all going to be rock stars then, playing bombastic “in your face” music. Somehow we grew up and out. Along the way, Clay has never stopped the groove – drums and production for a multitude of acts, of every genre. His talent and natural feel for the music are one of a kind. I am sure those of you who are reading this have your own stories, memories with Clay. He has touched the lives and of so many musicians in a lifetime of music that it is mind boggling. </p>
<p>Now my friend needs our help. The drumming has taken its toll on Clay’s shoulder. Medically speaking, he has developed a bone spur which is threatening to rip his rotator cuff if he does not have a major surgery, soon. Musically speaking, the groove that we have all known and loved has had to be put on “pause” and that’s a damn shame in my book. Making a living as a musician is a tough road, and Clay, like many others, has no health insurance to cover this. </p>
<p>Our friends, Barbara and Steve, at Casbeer's in San Antonio are planning a benefit for Clay, to show our support and to help raise a few funds to help pay for the surgery, so the groove can continue. We need your help. Please join us April 27 for an incredible night of music for one hell of a musician, who has put his heart and soul into the music his entire life. I urge you, as friends and fellow musicians, to come out and support Clay, or send your donations to Casbeer's, marked for Clay’s benefit. There will also be a silent auction if you would like to donate an item for it. </p>
