Sunday, May 4 -
Trace Elements Showcase at 4th Annual Texas B-roll Shindig
With Hash Brown, Lewis and Clark Musical Expedition, The Jumpcuts

(Dallas, Texas)

The fourth annual Texas B-Roll Shindig will benefit the 501 C-3 non-profit Still Kickin’ Foundation with acts from Dallas and San Antonio, Texas, and will serve as a musical tie-in to two high definition documentaries now in production in Texas.

The event takes place Sunday, May 4 at Poor David’s Pub in Dallas, a fitting venue, as it has a thirty-year history of supporting great live music in Texas. Music starts promptly at 6 PM. www.poordavidspub.com

On the bill for the Shindig is Dallas’ own blues master Hash Brown, the Texas rock and blues of Trace Elements, original songwriting duo The Lewis and Clark Musical Expedition, from San Antonio, Texas, and a new group, The Jumpcuts, playing some funny, off beat blues, roots and rock, also from Dallas.  The closing set of the night will be an all star “Still Kickin’ Jam” featuring players from all of the acts on the bill, plus many special guests.

TexasB-roll.com is a Dallas based provider of high definition stock footage of cities and scenes from Texas and several other USA destinations. This site was launched six years ago by Tracy Ready, an award winning Director of Photography, who is also a vocalist and songwriter involved in music industry for more than 25 years.  What started as an appreciation party for clients of Trace Productions and Texas B-roll in 2004 has expanded in the last 2 years to become a public event in support of the local freelance production community.

This years party is being sponsored in part by Media Communications Association (MCA-I) DFW chapter, and Texas Association of Film and Tape Professionals (TAFTP).

The Music

Trace Elements, the band are currently recording their first full length CD release at January Sound Studios in Dallas and Blue Cat Studios in San Antonio, Texas.  Guest artist who will appear on the CD include Grammy award winning Texas legend Augie Meyers (keyboards) in San Antonio, and blues great Hash Brown (guitar, harp) from Dallas. Songs from the CD release will also be included in soundtracks to two high definition documentary films currently in production that focus on the musical history of both Dallas and San Antonio, Texas.  For the Texas B-roll Shindig, the band will be performing several selections from the upcoming release, “Welcome to the Color Bar” (working title).

The band is an ongoing collaboration of some of the region’s most talented professional players (schedules permitting) for recording and the occasional showcase performance. The lineup for the CD and this one showcase show is Tracy Ready, vocals, Kevin Lewis, guitars (of Lewis and Clark, San Antonio), Sparky Montoya, keyboards (of Voodoo Blue), Mike Beall, drums (of Congratulations!), and John Echols, bass (The Daredevils). Dana Clark, keyboards, vocals, saxophone (Lewis and Clark) and Hash Brown, guitar, harmonica, will also guest on several songs – this is going to be one special night.

This will also be the first full live set Tracy and guitarist Kevin Lewis have performed together in 20 years! Their musical friendship and collaboration go back to 1979 in San Antonio, Texas.  In the ‘80’s they were part of a successful San Antonio blues-rock outfit, Blue Streak.  Tracy moved to Dallas in 1989, to pursue a career in television production.  Since then, they have recorded on and off together, and Kevin has become an in demand musician in San Antonio, part of many other recording projects and performance groups culminating with the present duo Lewis and Clark Expedition.  Now, Tracy and Kevin are working together again, as schedules permit, and their collaboration will be a large component in the upcoming CD release.  The set at the Shindig will be a special one night only live performance, first time in over two decades.

Dallas veteran blues singer, guitarist, harmonica ace Hash Brown will perform one showcase set of “the real deal” - Texas blues at it’s finest.  Hash Brown is one of the city’s hidden treasure performers. His performances are a showcase of many styles of the blues, in technique and in song selection, and Hash Brown shines on it all.  His work as a bandleader and proponent of the blues in Dallas over the last twenty years is significant.  His weekly jam sessions are legendary, consistently attracting great, nationally known players and serving as a proving ground for young musicians.

From San Antonio, The Lewis and Clark Musical Expedition bring to the show original songwriting and exquisite musicianship. Guitarist / bassist Kevin Lewis and his multi-talented wife Dana Clark (vocals, keyboards, mandolin, saxophone, flute) weave a beautiful tapestry of melody, positive energy and soul. They are featuring songs from their newly released CD “Disguised As Poetry”.
