Festival Time in Texas!

Except for a few days of frigid temperatures, we’ve pretty much given up on winter so let’s talk festivals! Spring is always good for outdoor fests of all types, from St. Patrick’s Day celebrations to Oyster Bakes, Art Exhibits to Rattlesnake Roundups – all good excuses to abandon the house cleaning and get the family out on the weekends.  Talk about diversity! Texas’ geographic and cultural landscape includes something for everyone – Here are two sites that are excellent starting points for discovering the myriad of community events, festivals, and seasonal exhibits across the state:

ALSO - March 2nd is Texas Independence Day. Texas declared it’s independence from Mexico while the Alamo was under siege by Santa Anna’s army in 1836.  The story is fascinating, and there are celebrations of this event in Austin and across the state.  More information from these sites:

Shindig News:

In January, we hosted the Second Annual TexasB-roll.com Shindig and had a blast at the All Good Café in Dallas! We were also thankful to be celebrating 10 years in video production business.  Thanks to everyone who showed up – for those of you who couldn’t make it – too bad! We had fun talking about you… hope to see you next year.

Trace Elements at the 2nd Annual Shindig
Left to Right – Patrick Rogers, guitar, vocals; Tracy Ready, lead vocals,
Mike Beall, drums; John Echols, bass; Sparky Montoya, keyboards

That’s the band! What an awesome group of musicians I have the pleasure of singing with from time to time. We are currently working on some club bookings for Trace Elements, and hope to see you all at one of the shows.  It’s Texas Rock and Blues with a Groove – more information on the band online at:

Live Music:

March 29
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
Stubb’s BBQ – Austin.
Bela Fleck has to be the world’s only jazz banjo player.  That’s right- banjo, but not like you’ve ever heard one played before – it’s electric jazz, funk, world music played with passion – must be seen and heard to appreciate.  Bela Fleck is an eight time Grammy award winner, and for good reason.  This is an incredible band, and appearing at one of our all time favorite spots in Austin – Stubbs – great bbq – fantastic place to see bands of all genres, from all over the world.

The Club - http://www.stubbsaustin.com/music.php

March 31
Joe Ely – solo acoustic
Poor David’s Pub, Dallas.
This gig is a perfect opportunity to catch one of Texas best songwriters and performers in an intimate setting.
