Happy Holidays from TexasB-roll.com

Greetings, ya'll! Two years ago we launched TexasB-roll.com on the Internet and started generating this newsletter each month. We've had a lot of fun putting this thing out, learned a lot about Texas and made quite a few friends along the way. So, as they used to say, "God willing and the creek don't rise", we're going to keep it going. Thanks you for your support and interest in this crazy business of ours in the Lone Star State. Cheers! - Trace

Unusual Ornaments Help Preserve State Capital

Here’s a neat Texas addition for your Christmas tree - ornaments designed as miniature replicas of the gates leading into the Texas State Capital grounds. This and some other very “Texas” ornament designs are available online from the Texas Capital gift shop. The State Preservation Board operates the shop and all proceeds go into preserving the Capital building and its grounds. The Texas State Capital in Austin was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1986 for its "significant contribution to American history," and is an impressive example of late 19th century public architecture.

Video/Film Production Humor on TexasB-roll.com

Six Stages of TV Production (from TexasB-roll.com – Humor page)
1. Wild Enthusiasm
2. Total Confusion
3. Utter Despair
4. Search for the Guilty
5. Persecution of the Innocent
6. Promotion & Reward of the Incompetent.

Laughter has helped ease the tension in many Production situations. You may want to strangle a Director, Producer, D.P., Sound Mixer, or whoever but if you can both laugh at a simple joke, well at least you smiled once that day! The TexasB-roll.com Humor page is full of quips, quotes and jokes about the zany business of television, video, film and multi-media. Go to www.TexasB-roll.com and click on the Humor button on the left side of the page. Additionally, we have a similar page on the sister site www.TraceProductions.com. Check ‘em out and have a laugh with us. Click the “laugh button” to hear a chuckle from a favorite Sound Tech of ours, guaranteed to make you smile just a bit. His picture is revealed at the bottom of the page (has anyone seen this man?). And if you have a good joke or story to tell about the business, we’d love to hear it. If it makes us laugh, we’ll put it on line. Send jokes to humor@TexasB-roll.com
